Version 6(5) Route Exploration Paths

As downloaded V6 only has a single default path. This means that you can only start and finish on the corresponding points on this path. If you wish to start at different locations you will need to create additional paths. Some additional "default" paths have been created to allow further exploration of the route. Note: These are paths only and not full activities.

Alternatively you may wish to create your own paths and a tutorial has been prepared to take you through this process on a step by step basis and is downloadable below.

Version 6 Route Preview Map

If you would like to preview and keep the Route map for Version 6 then you can use Tim Booth's (now upgraded to V0.98) excellent trackviewing tool. This update allows the preview to be loaded and kept permanently installed without causing any MSTS errors.

Please:

i) Read the readme file first.

ii) Download Track Viewer (V0.98)

iii) Download the V6 Route Map Preview.

iv) Install the above components and open Trackview to view route.

CTN V6(3) - Patch

A new patch file has been prepared to fix:
i) reduce some of the tile load in the Newcastle-Broadmeadow Area.

CTN V6(5) - Patch

A new patch file has been prepared to:
i) Extend to Gloucester Station.
ii) Fix some of the points in Darling Harbour Yard.
iii) Scenery improvements across route.

Version 6 Route Installation Instructions

Coals to Newcastle V6 can be installed using a single EXE file. It requires Xtracks (Ver 3.18) and NewRoads (Ver 3.2) to be loaded separately. All other addons are included in EXE file.

i) Download - Coals to Newcastle V6 (Total file download size 119464kB as indicated in Microsfot Explorer - Check when downloaded to ensure that file is intact.)

If you are on dialup and struggling to download the route then you can request a CD version. There will be a small charge to cover the costs of the CD, etc. If you are interested in this option please place your request on the feedback page.

ii) To operate this route you will need to install the following extra addons first:

* Xtracks (Ver 3.18) available from Steam4me - Xtracks

* NewRoads (Ver 3.2) (UK textures, without Dynamic Shadows) available from Steam4me - NewRoads

iii) If you have an earlier version of Coals to Newcastle installed, then remove it completely from the routes folder of MSTS. Keep a backup copy if required. (Note - activities will not be compatible with V6 as the paths may have changed and will cause error messages)

iv) Double click on EXE File

v) If you experience installation or performance problems, check out the Coals to Newcastle faq page first and if you can't find a fix for your problem send all the problem details via the feedback page.

**NOTE** - Some areas of the route are heavily populated with objects and therefore some users may experience performance problems depending on their PC setups, rolling stock used, etc. This partciularly applies to the Sydney to Strathfield and Newcastle to Broadmeadow sections.
