Australia NSWGR AD-60 Beyer Garratt Released : 23rd August 2001 Author : Joseph Spinella Email : jspinella2000@hotmail.com ============================================== Amended Readme.txt due to use of Installer. ============================================== If you are reading this file, you have successfully installed the AD-60 Garratt into your MS Train Simulator game. This program was downloaded from www.railpage.org.au/trainsim. There are three consists installed: * Garratt tank first light engine (entitled "Garratt Light Engine FF"); * Garratt tender first light engine (entitled "Garratt Bunker First Light Eng"); * Garratt 30 coal wagon (uses default MSTS hoppers(not NSW prototype ones) entitled "Garratt hauls 30 hoppers"). This means you just need to load MSTS, select your route and run. Additional consists can be created by using the Consist Editor within the Activity Editor. If you haven't already done so, I'd suggest downloading and installing the NSW S-truck, a 4-wheel wagon that was hauled by the Garratts. See http://www.railpage.org.au/steam4me/trainsim for a tutorial on creating your own consists. IMPORTANT NOTE: There are three components to the Garratt: a forward engine section containing the water tender, the central boiler section, which is unpowered, and the rear engine section containing the coal tender. In this model the two engine sections, that is, the forward and rearmost sections, will be found under the Engines (Steam) section when you are in the Activity Editor and are creating a new consist (see included JPG's called "garratt_tndr.jpg" and "garratt_tank.jpg"). The centre section will be found under the Cars (Freight) section of the rolling stock types because it is unpowered. Refer to the image "garrattb.jpg". To create one Garratt locomotive you need to assemble three components: 1. "AD60 Beyer Garratt Lead Engine"; 2. garratb the central unpowered boiler unit; and 3. "AD60 Beyer Garratt Rear Engine". When you assemble a loco in the editor ensure that the coal tender engine is the correct way around! It is reversed in "Preview" window of the editor and you will need to re-orientate it (right click on rear engine image) so that the pistons are at the REAR! (See image). ============================================================================================== Joseph Spinella jspinella2000@hotmail.com Copyright and Distribution -------------------------- Copyright (C) Joseph Spinella.
