*** New Sound Set for Non-Air Wagons in AU_HV_LCH and AU_HV_CHG *** *** newcastcoal.sms created by Don Martin *** These sounds, recorded on the coal lines of Newcastle in 1972 are genuine sounds of the non-air hoppers which were used for many years in the region. They are for use with Ian Martin's reskinned Newstan coal hoppers which are derived from the wagon files created by Ian Bowles and Russell Beer of Team-ALCO. The sound files can also be used with Ian and Russell's original LCH hopper series, and their CHG brake vans if the user so desires. The sounds are my own, and I have transferred them to appropriate wav files, and created the accompanying sms file. All wav files are copyright. The sounds include starting/stopping buffer clanking, and travelling sounds. The starting/stopping sounds only occur in the higher realism settings of MSTS. *** Instructions for Use *** Double click on the file "ctn_4w_coal_wagon_sounds_v1.exe" and follow the install procedure. If you wish to change existing wag file to use these sounds, edit each wag file to point to the new sms file. To do this, go to the end of each wag file (using WordPad or similar unitext editor), find the line Sound ( "genfreightwag1" ) or Sound ( "genfreightwag4" ) and replace the portion between the quotation marks with newcastcoal, so it now says Sound ( "../../common.sound/ctn-4w-coal-wagons/newcastcoal.sms" ) ********************************************** I especially wish to thank Team-ALCO for their comments and advice during the development of the final form of this sound set. I am happy to discuss any matter or problem. Contact me at dmsim@exemail.com.au 30 June, 2004
