Model Details Original 3D model of NSWGR Z20 Class 2-6-4 tank locomotives - by Brian Bere-Streeter These new locos came about, because of a need to create authentic train formations for use on the Microsoft Train Simulator route - 'Coals to Newcastle' - by Peter Newell, and the ‘Main Illawarra’ – by Brian Bere-Streeter Having spent some considerable time repainting others models and making new passenger and goods rolling stock, this is my fifth venture into building new STEAM locomotives from scratch. They may not be the most detailed or totally accurate, but in the absence of other better models, I hope you enjoy running them on your NSWGR routes in MSTS – at least it gives a bit more variety and authenticity to your train workings. To allow the creation of authentic train formations the following locos were added: - 2009 and 2029 These models are for your personal use only, and may not be sold or distributed in any way without the original creator's permissions. Prototype Notes: The original E10 2-6-4 tank locomotives comprised twelve new locomotives from Beyer Peacock in 1891 – these were based closely on the A93 (Z19) design. The class was extended in 1902-1910 by converting fourteen redundant A93 (Z19) 0-6-0 tender locomotives. The class proved sufficiently useful, that Eveleigh built a further seven in 1911. The three slightly different batches were all grouped together as the Z20 Class. They were originally intended for goods work, but when displaced by newer more powerful goods locomotives, they settled into light suburban service, especially on the lighter branch lines like Carlingford, Kurrajong, Camden and Morpeth. They also were frequently used on short goods Trip Trains from Enfield to local surrounding areas – ie the 1a Enfield – Bankstown round trip was a regular working for the Z20’s. As they became redundant, a number were on-sold – to AIS steelworks at Port Kembla (Wonga 2003, Wallaroo 2004 and Warrigal 2015), 2008 to ERS at Port Kembla, 2002 to PWD at Port Kembla, 2031 to Bulli Colliery, 2014 to Bunnerong Power House, and 2013 to Widemere Quarry. The last in service was 2010 in 1965. Installation Notes Double click on the self installing EXE file and follow the instructions. The models will be automatically installed into a folder called <<< AU_nswgrZ20 >>> YOU WILL NEED TO ALSO INSTALL the following Cabview and Sound sets:- CABVIEW – cabview is aliased to Joseph Spinella’s excellent C30 class tank engine cab SOUND – sound is aliased to Paul Gausden’s excellent D50 engine sounds. CREW - the loco crew is provided by Paul Gausden These Cabviews and Soundsets MUST BE installed in the MSTS master Trainsets folder, and the new NSWGR 20 Class locomotives will automatically link into them. You will need to create either a new consist to use these locomotives, or add them to an existing consist. Consists are made, or edited, using MSTS Activity Editor or Carlos Gomes’s ConBuilder. Consists have been included for each locomotive only as a Light Engine, just to get you started. Visit http://www.railpage.org.au/steam4me/trainsim for a tutorial in creating a consist. =========================================== 3.
