Model Details Original 3D models of NSW Bogie Open wagons - by Brian Bere-Streeter Tarpaulins texture by kind permission of the copyright holder – James McInerney These new wagons came about, because of a need to create authentic train formations for use on the Microsoft Train Simulator route - 'Coals to Newcastle' - by Peter Newell. New models were created for: NSWGR BD Bogie Open Wagon - empty NSWGR BD Bogie Open Wagon – 44-gal drum load NSWGR BD Bogie Open Wagon – crates load NSWGR BD Bogie Open Wagon – sawn timber load NSWGR BD Bogie Open Wagon – tarpaulined load NSWGR HGM Bogie Open Wagon – empty NSWGR HGM Bogie Open Wagon – sawn timber load NSWGR HGM Bogie Open Wagon – crate load NSWGR HGM Bogie Open Wagon – 44-gal drum load 2 NSWGR GP Bogie Open Wagon – ore concentrate empty NSWGR GP Bogie Open Wagon – ore concentrate loaded Having spent some considerable time repainting others models, this is another venture into building new rolling stock from scratch. They may not be the most detailed or totally accurate, but in the absence of other better models, I hope you enjoy running them on your NSW routes in MSTS – at least it gives a bit more variety and authenticity to your train workings. These models are for your personal use only, and may not be sold or distributed in any way without the original creator's permissions. =========================================== 2. Installation Notes Double click on the self-installer exe file and follow the instructions, as part of the installation a new folder called << AU_nswBogieOpenWagons >> will be created. Note: These wagons have been set up to work with the CTN bogie freight sounds, so make sure that you have them installed. You will need to create either a new consist to use these wagons, or add them to an existing consist. Consists are made, or edited, using MSTS Activity Editor or Carlos Gomes’s ConBuilder. =========================================== 3. Historical Notes HGM – the HGM wagon was a modification of the original G type all steel wagons, built by Waggonfabrik Talbot in Germany, but assembled by Clyde Engineering and delivered in 1951. The HGM had the original G type bottom floor discharge doors sealed and had heavier bogies. 144 in service 1970 BD – the BD wagon was the first of the ‘modern’ steel wagons with vertical square corrugated sides and ends, but retaining a wood floor. Tarpaulin lashing bars were fitted to the sides and ends. These wagons were the fore-runners to the later BDL and subsequently NODY types. 199 in service 1970 GP – the GP wagon was a modified G wagon with the bottom floor discharge doors sealed, and the side doors replaced with plain panelling. These were used solely for ore concentrate traffic from Broken Hill to Cockle Creek and Cobar to Port Kembla, and were emptied in rotary tipplers. 130 in service 1970 Prototype information for these models has been researched from the following sources: " Day of the Goods Train" , Preston, Eveleigh Press, 2002 “Railway Freight Wagons of New South Wales”, Beckhaus, SCR Publications, 1970 =========================================== 4.
