Model Details Original 3D model of MRC, MLV and MLK vans - by Brian Bere-Streeter These new vans came about, because of a need to create authentic train formations for use on the Microsoft Train Simulator route - 'Coals to Newcastle' - by Peter Newell. To allow the creation of authentic train formations the following vans were added: New MLK (also known as a ‘milk pot’)– in Black – older style van with louvre and timbered ends, with panelled letter board and baseboards – conversions from MLV with 2 x 2000 gallon milk tanks fitted internally – [total 82 in service in 1970] New MLV – in dirty Black - older style van with louvre and timbered ends, with panelled letterboard and baseboards – [total 235 in service in 1970] New second MLV – in Black – shorter older style van with louvred and timbered ends, with panelled letterboard and baseboards – conversion from older BLV vans on ‘fish-belly’ underframes and external V shape centre bracing struts – [total 111 in service in 1970] New MRC – 20ton refrigerator van with light weathering – [total 58 in service in 1970] The MLK’s and the MLV’s were originally painted Black (later vans painted Tuscan), and were also rated for running in passenger trains (the red diamond code marker indicated vans suitable for passenger service). One or two were often seen at the head of long distance expresses. Version 2 now includes: All vans rebuilt – base colours changed from later Red livery to earlier Black livery, improved bogies and wheels, screw couplers and brake pipes added. - A new MRC with medium weathering added - A new MRC with light weathering – Nepean Milk added - A new MBC van (converted from surplus MRC) These models are for your personal use only, and may not be sold or distributed in any way without the original creator's and re-painter's permissions. The models will be automatically installed into a folder called <<< AU_nswBogieVans >>> If you are adding these new Version 2 cars to an existing Version 1 installation, it is recommended that you totally delete all existing files in the AU_nswBogieVans folder, as the new files are completely different. You will need to create either a new consist to use these vans, or add them to an existing consist. Consists are made, or edited, using MSTS Activity Editor or Carlos Gomes’s ConBuilder. Visit http://www.railpage.org.au/steam4me/trainsim for a tutorial in creating a consist. =========================================== 3.
