Model Details Original 3D models of H-Type coaches - by Brian Bere-Streeter These new coaches came about, because of a need to create authentic sets of coaches for use on the Microsoft Train Simulator route - 'Coals to Newcastle' - by Peter Newell. To allow the formation of authentic sets of coaches the following coaches were created: BH – First Class car FH – Second Class car RBH – First Class car with Buffet RFH –Second Class car with Buffet HFH – Second Class car with Guard / Brake compartment PFH – Second Class car with Electric Power Generator compartment The coaches pack includes: One set of coaches in Tuscan and Russet livery, and One set of coaches in Indian Red livery Please note that due to the 7-car set having 6 different interior layouts, and the limited life left in MS Train Simulator 1, I cannot justify the substantial additional time spent, and therefore have not attempted to make these new coaches with see-through windows and interiors. Most NSW carriages looked the same when viewed from either direction – however, the HUB sets with the distinctive toilet and air-conditioning equipment layouts, presented a different view when used in Up trains and a different view when used in Down trains. The Down trains (away from Sydney) were formed: Loco – PFH, FH, RBH, BH, BH, RFH, HFH The Up trains (towards Sydney) were formed: Loco – HFH, RFH, BH, BH, RBH, FH, PFH The original HUB sets cars built by Michael Thompson in 2002, were built as viewed for Down trains – accordingly, my new HUB set cars are built as viewed for Up trains. This will allow my new cars to be used in conjunction with Michael’s originals without conflict. Simply ‘flipping’ the cars in the Consist editor will not provide the correct layout, as when ‘flipped’ in MSTS, the bogies will turn the WRONG way when rounding curved track. These models are for your personal use only, and may not be sold or distributed in any way without the original creator's permissions. =========================================== 2. Installation Notes Create a new folder called << AU_nsw-H-Type >> Unzip the files into a temporary folder, then copy and paste all of the files straight into the new H-Type folder (check the name to be sure). Also included is a range of Consists to suit the four different Expresses in different time periods with a selection of locomotives, both freeware and payware – if you do not have the payware locomotives, you may substitute a different freeware one in the appropriate consists. =========================================== 3. Historical Notes The H-Type corridor cars were constructed between 1948 and 1949, a total of 28 cars of BH, FH, RBH, RFH, HFH, and PFH type were built, all as new construction, to form 4 sets of 7-car fixed formation stock. They were the first of the new air-conditioned passenger stock. The sets were coded HUB, and were used on the Sydney-Newcastle Express, The Riverina Express, The Central West Express and the South Coast Daylight Express. These coaches had a long life, lasting as complete sets of fixed formation cars until the mid-70’s, before the sets started to be intermixed with other types of passenger coaches. Initially they were designed to provide a new series of prestige Daylight Express services on specific country train workings, and provided Buffet facilities for all passengers via interconnecting gangways between cars. The terminal cars at the outer ends of the set did not have connecting gangways, and were not usually coupled to any additional stock, except that in later days, an EHO full brake van was often attached. Prototype information for these models has been researched from the following sources: " Coaching Stock of the NSW Railways - Volumes 1 and 2 ", Cooke, Estell, Seckold and Beckhaus, Eveleigh Press, 1999 and 2003 " Time of the Passenger Train - First (and Second, and Third) Division" , Preston, Eveleigh Press, 2003 (and 2004, and 2006) =========================================== 4.
