RSH Hebburn Colliery No.1 for Microsoft Train Simulator By Daniel Hamblin danhamblin@btinternet.com 07/01/2007 Model and Textures by Daniel Hamblin Copyright © 2007 Daniel Hamblin ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ INSTALLATION Before installing any models, it is suggested that you make a copy of all the files in the \TRAINS\TRAINSET directory - failure to do this may result in a lengthy re-installation process. Doulble click on the exe file and follow the install instructions. A light engine consist for the loco only will be added so that you can use it straight away. Note that this model uses the C30 Class cab, so make sure that you have it installed first. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ HISTORY The last steam locomotive imported into Australia was a 2-6-2 tank for the Hebburn Colliery which operated a branch line to link their pits with the South Maitland Railway at Weston. The engine had a long heritage, the first nine engines of this basic design being built for the Mersey Railway in 1885. Later, the Alexandra Docks and Railway, a part of the Great Western Railway, was impressed with the design and two similar engines were built for them in 1920. Even in 1955, the design was considered suitable to meet Hebburn's needs and Robert Stephenson and Hawthorns Limited shipped their modern version in 1955. Unfortunately, it was badly damaged in an accident and was scrapped in 1967. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ THE MSTS MODEL The model of Hebburn Colliery No.1 is depicted in black with 'worn' cream lining, and is intended to represent it as it was in the early 1960's. This makes it suitable for use on the Coals to Newcastle route, version 6 and above include Hebburn No. 1 Colliery, where this locomotive worked. Air brakes are fitted to this locomotive and the physics files reflect this. The coupler's have been set as the Automotic type in order to be compatible with most available rolling stock. To change this, open up RSH_HC.eng and replace the word "Automatic" with the word "chain". This model need not be restricted to the Coals to Newcastle route, it would make an ideal large industrial for any route across the Commonwealth. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS I am very grateful to the following people in relation to the making of this model: Rick Gibb - for supplying a realistic (within the bounds of MSTS!) physics file Matthew Carey - for helping with pictures of the cab components (sadly not all used due to problems with View 2 and View 4 crashes). Ian MacMillan - for supplying the coal texture. Brian Bere-Streeter and Ian "supergoods" for help in research. Michael Davies, Tim Booth, Marc Nelson and Peter Holton and Richard Osbourne - for helping me with various aspects of using gMax to create the model. Danny (dee4141) and Andy Hardy for testing the model at various stages of development. Finally the communities at UKTrainsim, BluearrowTS and Making Tracks that have kept my interest in MSTS alive these last 3 years! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ LEGAL SECTION This model is for your personal use only, and must not, under any circumstances, be sold or distributed in any way what so ever.
