Model Details Original 3D model of B-Set stock - by Chris Jennings - Email: cjennings1@bigpond.com Repaints, add-ons, upgrades and additional stock - by Brian Bere-Streeter Chris Jennings originally created an excellent B-Set electric single deck suburban train set, in two liveries. Thank you Chris - for allowing me to repaint your models for more variety for NSWGR enthusiasts. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx SPECIAL NOTE: The parcel van depicted in this file set did not actually exist. NSWGR created Fast Electric Parcel Vans by converting older suburban electric stock that had been retired from passenger revenue service. In fact no parcel vans had been built from the later ‘Sputnik’ style stock, as represented by the B-Set. In the absence of any other suitable stock in MSTS, it has been hypothetically assumed that one of the older parcel vans has been condemned and withdrawn from service. To replace this van NSWGR rebuilt and converted a B-Set motor car that had been withdrawn from passenger revenue service due to collision damage. The car included here has a fictional running number 3910, but this is an extension of the number series actually used in real life. As a concession to Chris’s original B-Set motor car model, the parcel van, as modelled, retains the internal passenger seating (but darked to make it less obvious) and only a basic representation of the driver cab at the No2 End. After discussions with Chris, it is hoped that in the future, when time allows, Chris will be able to amend the basic model to correct these two ‘faults’, and the vehicle will then be re-released as a Version 2.0. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx This new parcel van came about, because of a need to create authentic train formations for use on the Microsoft Train Simulator route - 'Coals to Newcastle' - by Peter Newell. To allow the creation of authentic train formations the following rolling stock was added: - 3910 – Fast Electric Parcel Van Details of the authentic prototype workings over the sections of line represented by the CTN route, can be found in the extracts of the document “Working Timetable – Metropolitan Division” available for download on the CTN website. These models are for your personal use only, and may not be sold or distributed in any way without the original creator's and re-painter's permissions. =========================================== 2. Installation Notes You MUST HAVE the original B-Set file sets by Chris Jennings installed in accordance with his installation notes. To save space, the Cabview and Sound files are NOT included in this archive – when the files are correctly copied into the existing B-Set folder, they will automatically link into the existing Cab and Sound files for correct operation. This parcel van is designed to be placed in the same folder as the original B-Set - in most cases this will be a folder called <<< AUnswBSet >>>, the installer will automatically do this for you. If you wish to move the files around yourself then install the files to a temporary location other then the MSTS folder. Over-write any existing files when it asks, as some of the original files may have been enhanced. A consist has been included for a single parcel van, just to get you started, and will be automatically installed into the Consists folder. Visit http://www.railpage.org.au/steam4me/trainsim for a tutorial in creating a consist. =========================================== 3.
